Here we are ! At the store

  • Goal #1  avoid all plastic packaging or foam – buy Food in bulk , organic if you can, – buy food in glass packaging (tomatoe sauce, condiments’s sauces…), refuse single-use plastic bags (even the “recycle or biodegradable one”) –
  • Goal #2  bring your own containers for cereals, flour, grains, pasta, rice…. olive oil, mapple sirop, dish liquid …. it’s a little bit heavier but it will be ready to storage and no plastic packaging in the trash bin !
  • Tips #1 Make a grocery list
    and stick to your list
    (make economy shopping only
    what
    you really need)
  • Tips #2 Buy in season
(wherever you live, choose produce grown
in your country and sourced as locally as possible.)
  • Tips #3 Buy the “ugly” fruit
  • Tips # 4 Ask your butcher,
to put your meat, fish, seafood and cheese
in compostable paper wrap (you avoid to buy
in plastic packaging). If he is ok, ask him to put the food directly in your own containers (Farmer's market, Whole Food, Co-op). He will tare the container of course.

Bulk food self-service :

Tare your container,
Write the weight on it
(with wax crayons or on a sticker provided by the store ),
then Fill with food or liquid,
mark on your container the product #.
Go to pay,
cashier will take care of everything.

Et Voila!Next time reuse the same container for the same food
(if you like it and want to buy it again).
